Obsessed Kitchen & Bar

GREAT FLAVORS, SHARED PASSIONS, ICONIC IMAGES

Project

Obsessed Kitchen & Bar

When the owners of a well-known Oak Park catering company set out to open their own restaurant, they partnered with Proof to position their brand, craft a visual identity, and design the interior environment. The result was a fully integrated experience—from identity and graphics to collateral, menus, and spatial design—all grounded in a single concept: obsession.

Visualizing Obsession

We created a living identity built around shifting symbols and images—visual pairings that captured the spirit of obsession. Photographic icons and legendary figures became part of the brand story. Howard Hughes appears alongside an aircraft propeller; an ice axe is juxtaposed with Mount Everest. Each pairing connects the tools of ambition to the relentless drive behind great achievements. These image combinations allowed the identity to constantly evolve—always fresh, always slightly unexpected.

Planning a Culinary Journey

Obsessed Kitchen & Bar was rooted in culinary craft: classic dishes reimagined with a modern twist and menus that changed with the seasons. We extended this theme through menu and collateral design, using typography and imagery to reinforce the brand’s voice. The obsessive use of seasonal ingredients became a visual and verbal anchor for the entire experience, and the menus reflected that energy with clean structure and expressive details.

Icons of Obsession

We extended the brand concept through the interior design by utilizing portraits and other images associated with obsession.

Living Obsession

Brand development and interior design progressed simultaneously—a necessity given the tight timeline, but also a creative advantage. Working on both tracks allowed us to cross-reference ideas, allowing identity elements to directly influence the environment and vice versa. The result was a space where the brand didn’t just appear—it lived in every detail.

A Night to Remember

The restaurant’s mix of textures, imagery, and curated details created a warm, inviting experience—one that reflected the joy, energy, and communal spirit of dining. Photography throughout the space reinforced the brand story, weaving obsession into the visual rhythm of the room.

“Food is something everyone obsesses over. Regardless of our tastes or styles, food is universal and brings us together—
reminding us all of common and shared joys in life.”

Jef Anderson, Principal, Proof

Obsessive Repetition

Repeated imagery and multiples throughout both the brand materials and interior design reinforced the visual system. These elements created strong recognition and an unmistakable, cohesive identity—one that felt immersive, intentional, and distinctly Obsessed.
